Treated with Caig Contact Cleaner

Every Blue Echo HDMI Cable is Chemically Treated with DeoxIT® GOLD Contact Enhancer, Conditioner & Protector Just Before Shipping

Just prior to shipping your HDMI Cable, Blue Echo Solutions chemically treats the connectors with Caig Labs DeoxIT® GOLD (formerly ProGold).  DeoxIT® GOLD has long been used by manufacturers to treat conductors and connectors to lower the resistance and increase conductivity, protect base metals from oxidation, and provide the best connection possible.

Caig Labs DeoxIT® GOLD (formerly ProGold) increases the performance and reliability of all electrical equipment. It improves conductivity for greater definition and dynamics, reduces noise and interference, and lowers distortion. Unlike other products, it also stabilizes connections between similar and dissimilar metals. ProGold provides long lasting protection (1-10 years) on gold, silver, rhodium, copper, nickel and other precious metals.

Physical and chemical changes in the surface condition of electrical or electronic connectors are primary causes of degraded performance of components and equipment. When contact surfaces are exposed to dust, smoke, gases, soot, and other solids suspended in the atmosphere, nonmetallic films form, inhibiting conductivity. Added resistance and friction between metal surfaces can also cause abrasion, noise, freeze-up, and in some cases, increased power consumption.

A common problem with plated surfaces, especially gold, is the "whiskering" (dendrite corrosion) of base metals to the surface due to gold's soft and porous nature. Once exposed, base metals oxidize causing a "blistering" of the surfaces, adding unwanted resistance that impedes electrical performance. The contact surfaces are actually separated by this blister, thereby reducing the effective contact area. Since gold plated surfaces are thinly coated, they are susceptible to scratching and abrasion, further exposing the base metals.

Conduction through a DeoxIT® GOLD coated surface takes place in three ways:

  1. First, DeoxIT® GOLD can be displaced by electrical arcing, shock wave or simple mechanical pressure and will redistribute itself along the surface when the disturbance is removed.
  2. Second, a thin insulating film of DeoxIT® GOLD can be dispersed by an electrical field.
  3. Finally, conduction takes place through a very thin film of DeoxIT® GOLD by means of a quantum-mechanical phenomenon called "tunneling." To avoid detouring into a discussion in physics, simply stated, electrons travel from one side of a thin film of DeoxIT® GOLD to the other without passing through. (This is the same effect that gave the tunnel diode its name). DeoxIT® GOLD fills the gaps in the contact surfaces, increasing the surface area and current flow (conductivity). DeoxIT® GOLD penetrates the plated surface and molecularly bonds to the base metals to seal and protect it. Unlike other products, DeoxIT® GOLD provides long lasting protection (1-10+ years) and will not gum-up, evaporate, varnish, char or breakdown.

Key Features:

  • Improves Conductivity
  • Maintains Optimum Signal Quality
  • Protects Base Metals from Oxidation
  • Prevents Dendrite and Fretting Corrosion
  • Forms Protective Anti-Tarnishing Layer
  • Reduces Wear and Abrasion
  • Temperature Range, -45 C to +240 C
  • Lasts 1 to 10 Years

Nonabrasive, noncorrosive, nontoxic and environmentally safer.

DeoxIT® GOLD is Manufactured in the USA.

Every Blue Echo HDMI Cable is Tested for Open, Shorted and Crossed Wired Just Prior to Shipping to ensure you receive a fully-functioning Cable

Just prior to shipping your Blue Echo HDMI Cable, Blue Echo Solutions uses an HDMI Cable Tester to check every Blue Echo HDMI Cable for open, shorted, and crossed wires. Any of these wire conditions would cause your HDMI Cable to fail, and potentially cause damage to your connected equipment. By checking every Blue Echo HDMI Cable prior to shipping, we can ensure that you receive a fully functioning HDMI Cable.

As is the case with any large scale manufacturing, there are occassional defects that make it past the inspection process. HDMI Cables are a very complex construction of 19 wires soldered to a very small connector. During the manufacturing process where the 19 wires are connected to the HDMI Connector, a few issues can occur that would cause the HDMI Cable to be defective:

  1. A poor soldering job can mean the individual wire is not connected to the pin on the connector, or can leave a cold solder joint, which will crack over time resulting in a broken connection.
  2. Sloppy soldering can cause the solder from one pin to touch the adjacent pin, resulting in a shorted connection.
  3. With 19 wires color-coded and connected in a very tight space, wires can be connected to the wrong pin, resulting in cross wires which results in a defective HDMI Cable.

This image is one taken by Blue Echo Solutions of an HDMI Cable that we received that did not work. We removed the Metal Shell covering the connectors to discover one of the wires had broken away from its solder joint. By testing every Blue Echo HDMI Cable, we can ensure that you never receive an HDMI Cable in this condition. Also note the proximity of the solder connections, which on many HDMI Connectors are even closer.

This occurs in a small percentage of HDMI Cables, but in an effort to eliminate receiving a defective cable and having to go through the process of arranging an exchange or return, we test 100% of Blue Echo HDMI Cables just prior to shipping them. This ensures that you don't receive an HDMI Cable with the issues mentioned above.

Please note that this process alone is not a guarantee that your HDMI Cable can process any signal without problems, but all Blue Echo HDMI Cables are ATC approved to pass resolutions of 1080p and beyond. This test simply ensures that during the connection phase of manufacturing the individual wires are connected at both ends, connected to the correct pin on the HDMI Connector, and not shorted to another pin, as all three of these problems would prevent you from using your HDMI Cable.

Purchase Blue Echo HDMI Cable with hd EZ lock and save $5.00

Add hd EZ lock to your Blue Echo HDMI Cable to eliminate a loose HDMI Connection and provide Strain Relief on your fragile HDMI Input. hd EZ lock will make sure that your HDMI Cable remains secure in its input, eliminating intermittent signal drop outs and other issues caused by a loose HDMI Connection.

In addition, hd EZ lock eliminates harmful stress on your HDMI Input by securing your HDMI Cable from your component's chassis rather than from the HDMI Input itelf.

hd EZ lock works with most HDMI Components on the market by attaching to the fixing screw above or below your HDMI Input, or by attaching it with the supplied 3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive. A typical installation of hd EZ lock takes just a couple of minutes and once in place you will immediately understand the benefits of using it for every HDMI Connection.

To add hd EZ lock to your purchase, simply select "hd EZ lock $9.95/pair (save $5.00)" from the "Add hd EZ lock?" option box above.

Our hd EZ lock product page has more details on hd EZ lock, and you can view installation methods here.
