As this sounds easier than a repair. Its in an awkward place to work on and even though I have most of the tools required and some soldering skill the fact that I would struggle to know which wire went where & the distance issue and the potential for damage / signal loss etc. This article stopped me wasting my time. Thanks again.

Thanks ‘admin’ after reading this I can confirm that I will buying a new cable and chasing in the wall again! You'll have to run a separate audio cable or possibly go with an adapter like this one:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015DTUJ8?ie=UTF8&tag=lasgoli-20&linkCode=shr&camp=213733&creative=393185&creativeASIN=B0015DTUJ8

Hello, I’m not aware of any way you can just tap into the HDMI Cable and grab the audio to send it to the TV for many reasons (HDCP protection, Digital signal, etc). There are other field-terminating kits on the market, such as those made by Covid, etc. Most of them are made for bulk purchases though, so it may be hard to find a single end, other than the options mentioned in this article. They also are made to work with their matching bulk HDMI cable, so even if you could get one, it might not work with your cable. One more obstacle, the crimp tool required is over $100.00, so if you can't borrow one somewhere it is cost prohibitive to go with this option.Still the best options (from a $ point of view especially) for most seem to be the terminal kits mentioned in this article.

The Audioquest HDMI Cables are still being overmolded in China (to the best of my knowledge) and so I’m pretty sure you can’t use the stock AQ repair ends to fix a cable.

As far as the AQ field terminating kit, I believe AQ has not released their version (and not sure that they will).
