HDMI connectors have no locking mechanism to secure the HDMI Cable, but instead use a friction connection to hold the HDMI Cable in its input. 1. hd EZ lock™ turns your loose HDMI Cable into a Locking HDMI Cable.

Loose HDMI Cables have been a source of frustration for Consumers, Retailers, Installers and Manufacturers. HDMI Cables™ have a reputation of coming loose fairly easily. This can happen over time from the weight of the cable itself, slight movement of your components, dusting, pets, and more. The result is a loss of sound and/or picture. It's not uncommon to have to access the back of your equipment to plug in a loose HDMI Cable. Or maybe you have no idea why your picture went away and you schedule an expensive service call to troubleshoot the problem. Whatever the case may be, a loose HDMI Cable can be a huge inconvenience for you.

But even more than an inconvenience, repeatedly plugging and unplugging your HDMI Cable has caused many people to damage their components. The pins can be bent easily, and this may result in costly repairs and being without your equipment for weeks while it's being repaired.

Reading many articles and forums on HDMI, it's not uncommon to hear people complaining that their picture went away and they had to "wiggle" the HDMI Cable, or push it firmly into the input, and the picture would return.

Once your cable is in its proper position in its HDMI Input, hd EZ lock™ is positioned around your HDMI Cable to hold it in that position, eliminating most movement and preventing it from loosening in its input.

The current solutions include Port Savers, HDMI Cables with a thumbscrew molded into the cable, and a couple of manufacturers that have a locking HDMI Connection. While these are all good solutions worth considering, hd EZ lock™ is the only solution that addresses all of the issues with the HDMI Connection, and the only solution that allows you to use your existing HDMI Cable or the HDMI Cable of your choice.

Port Savers are a short jumper that plugs into your HDMI Input, and your HDMI Cable plugs into the other end. This is a great solution for those that change their equipment often, or plug and unplug their HDMI Cable often. It's much lighter than many HDMI Cables, but it is not a locking HDMI Cable, and it's possible that it may come unplugged. In addition, some people may not want to add another link into their signal path.

HDMI Cables with the thumbscrew molded in have been around for some time now. They allow you to screw your HDMI Cable into many components with a fixing screw. They only work with one location since they are not adjustable, so there is a possibility that it will not work with future systems, or even your current system. Also, the screw extends out approximately 2" from the chassis, so there is still room for movement in the cable. This option also requires that you purchase this specific cable, which limits your options on HDMI Cable choices.

The other option of HDMI Cables use an enhancement to the current friction method of holding the HDMI Cable in place. In doing this, they increase the holding power of the HDMI Cables by quite a bit. These HDMI Cables are definitely worth taking a look at, but they do not address the issue of stress on your HDMI Input. Also, as with the previously mentioned cable, you must purchase their specific HDMI Cable, again limiting your choices, or forcing you to replace your existing HDMI Cable.
